Danish Speedway Champion, Slangerup SK in Krakow

On April 6, 2026, Janusz Kahl, CEO of NordicHouse and the Consul of the Kingdom of Denmark in Krakow, participated in the “INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY MATCH FOR THE KRAKOW CUP – SPEEDWAY KRAKOW VS SK SLANGERUP” and the Family Speedway Picnic. As every year, the Danish champion team, the Slangerup Speedway Club, participated in the match. The mayor of Krakow, Aleksander Miszalski, also attended the match.

The Open Family Speedway Picnic at Odmogile 1b Street inaugurated the celebration of the 70th anniversary of speedway in Krakow. This event was a unique experience that brought together generations of motorsport fans and city residents. It was not only a great opportunity to celebrate the rich history of Krakow speedway, but also to have fun together in a friendly, family atmosphere.

The picnic program included numerous attractions for children and adults – from meetings with former and current riders, through demonstrations of speedway equipment, to entertainment, competitions, and partner and recreational areas. A food court and live music also served to highlight the unique character of the event. The Krakow Speedway Family Picnic was an excellent opportunity to relive the fondest memories of Krakow speedway, learn about its history, and instill a passion for the sport in the region’s youngest residents. Together, we kicked off the anniversary year of 2026 by celebrating 70 years of excitement, tradition, and speedway competition in Krakow!

The most important and highly anticipated event of the Picnic was, of course, the International Speedway Friendly Match for the Krakow City Cup between the Speedway Kraków and Slangerup SK (Danish champions) teams. This unique sporting spectacle provided fans with immense excitement and served as a symbolic highlight of the anniversary, combining local tradition with the international dimension of speedway.

This international event provides a unique opportunity to promote speedway sport and build relationships between the Polish and Danish sports communities. The participation of the SK Slangerup team contributed to strengthening international cooperation and popularizing the sporting culture of our countries.
