Ambassadors for Lighthouse Life Science

NordicHouse is proud to announce that we are appointed the Ambassadors in Poland for Lighthouse Life Science, the latest initiative of Capital Region of Copenhagen in Denmark.

The Region wants to be a lighthouse that the rest of the world looks towards within life science and new technological healthcare solutions. A large number of public and private actors in the Capital Region of Copenhagen (CopenhagenCapacity, Wonderful Copenhagen, city of Copenhagen) have joined forces to develop new solutions through innovative partnerships between regions, municipalities, pension companies, knowledge institutions and small and medium-sized enterprises, among others. In the Capital Region, the initial focus will be on obesity.

The Capital Region of Denmark is home to one of the strongest life science clusters in the world. In a world where societies are facing increasing challenges from the burden of chronic diseases and pressure on health systems, one needs to build trustful partnerships between public and private partners to develop new solutions to complex societal challenges, such as obesity. Denmark is a small country but has a deep-rooted trust between the sectors. When one combines that with a public healthcare system this is a perfect test lab to develop unique, innovative solutions together – and scale to other disease areas and countries.

A very important partner in Lighthouse Life Science is Medicon Valley the bi-national life science cluster spanning the island of Zealand in Eastern Denmark and the Skåne-region of Southern Sweden.

Medicon Valley is the crucible of Scandinavian life sciences. Located at the gateway to Denmark and Sweden it has a vibrant ecosystem and deep talent pool underpinned by world-class life science universities and research infrastructure. Set in a competitive business environment with the Scandinavian quality of life close at hand, Medicon Valley is an attractive location for both business and people. Scandinavian innovation is globally recognized and the life sciences reflect this.

Within Medicon Valley there is a rich life science heritage and pioneering spirit that continues to attract many successful companies. Companies like Novo Nordisk, Ferring, Genmab, Baxter Gambro, GN Hearing, Novozymes and Chr. Hansen are representative, but so too are the many smaller and medium-sized innovative Danish and Swedish life science companies who continue to energise the area. Many of them choose to become members of the regional network organization Medicon Valley Alliance and help strengthen the regional life science cluster.
