Conference “Thermal Modernization of Buildings”

On September 24, 2025, NordicHouse and SPCleantech organized the fifth annual conference, “Thermal Modernization and Renovation of Buildings – Latest Market Trends – Challenges of Thermal Modernization and Renovation Processes in the Light of the New EU Directives Coming into Force” at the AGH University of Science and Technology (AGH) in Krakow.

During the conference, we focused on the significant legislative changes proposed by the European Commission and their impact on the processes of improving the energy efficiency of buildings through thermal modernization and renovation in Poland. In particular, we looked at the updated directives: ETS2 (Emissions Trading System) and, in particular, the EPBD (Energy Performance of Buildings Directive).

We also presented our latest initiative: the first stationary Investor Support Point in Poland for the thermal modernization and renovation of buildings, which aims to simplify and accelerate the thermal modernization process for building owners, both individual and community, housing cooperatives, municipalities, counties, and businesses.

As Europe strives to increase energy efficiency and reduce emissions, it is crucial to understand how these changes will impact the thermal modernization and renovation of various building types. We focused on single-family homes, multi-apartment buildings, and public buildings, including historic buildings. Participants had the opportunity to gain knowledge on the practical aspects of implementing these directives and the challenges they may pose.

During the conference, invited experts shared their experiences and best practices that can help adapt to the upcoming changes. We also considered the extent to which single-family home owners, multi-apartment building managers, and municipal governments are ready for these changes and what steps can be taken to effectively implement the new regulations in practice. It was an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and establish valuable contacts among industry specialists.
