World Trade Center in Krakow

On 01.07.2025, a meeting was held at the Krakow City Hall on the initiative of NordicHouse, attended by the vice-president of Krakow, Stanisław Mazur, director of the World Trade Center (WTC) in Warsaw, Jacques Tourel, and the president of NordicHouse, Janusz Kahl. The meeting concerned the possibility of building a World Trade Center (WTC) in Krakow, which would not only be a prestigious architectural project, but above all a strategic investment in the future of the city, which could bring a number of long-term benefits.

There is one World Trade Center in Poland in Warsaw, which has been a member of the global World Trade Centers Association since 1990. WTC Warsaw is an apolitical organization and closely cooperates with ministries and government agencies that promote trade and export.

The World Trade Center (WTC) is not just a single building, but a network of shopping centers around the world that support international trade and investment. They play an important role in international trade and the economy of the cities in which they operate, being a recognizable and respected symbol of local, concentrated economic power due to excellent services and high-quality operations.

Cities in which the World Trade Center was built benefit greatly from their presence. Here are some of them:

Economic growth and investment attraction

  • Increasing the investment attractiveness of the city on the international stage
  • Attracting global companies that want to have their headquarters in a prestigious location
  • Increasing the number of jobs in sectors such as finance, law, consulting or IT

Business and economic center

  • Such complexes bring together companies from various industries, especially those operating globally
  • They facilitate international trade cooperation, which can increase revenues to the city budget

Integration with the global economy

  • A city with a WTC becomes part of an international trade network, which facilitates export, import and cross-border cooperation
  • Possibility to organize international conferences, fairs and business meetings

Revitalization and development of infrastructure

  • Construction of a WTC often entails the modernization of the surrounding infrastructure: roads, public transport, public spaces
  • It can lead to the revitalization of neglected districts and increase the value of real estate

Innovation and development of knowledge

  • A WTC can become a center for innovation and knowledge exchange, attracting startups, incubators and research institutions
  • Supports the development of local talents and cooperation with universities

Sustainable development

  • Modern WTC complexes are often designed with energy efficiency and ecology in mind, which can be an impulse for the green transformation of the city

Strengthening the city’s identity

  • Such a project can become a symbol of ambition and modernity, strengthening the city’s brand in the world

Thanks to these and other benefits, cities with World Trade Centers can develop dynamically and gain importance in the global economy.
