Artistic textile exhibition in NH

On 10 May, 2010 an exhibition by Scandinavian artists: Runa Boger (N), Vebjørg Hagene Thoe (N), Lis Lundquist (DK) i Ulrikka Mokdad (DK) was opened in NH Gallery in NordicHouse. The exhibition of artistic textile is a part of the 3rd edition of the International Art Festival ”Structures of Connections” – Artistic Tapestry - Transformations.

Vebjørg Hagene Thoe
Born: 1953.  Artistic education: University of Oslo, Norway; post-graduate studies at Kraków Academy of fine Arts. Areas of artistic activity: textile art, photography, installation, set design, performance. Educational activity: Teaches at all levels of schools and universities. Trains teachers of weaving. Selected exhibitions and competitions: Arts Festival, Nordic House, Reykjavik, Iceland; International Textile Art Symposium, Graz, Austria; International Theatre Festival, Stamsund, Norway; East African Art Biennial, Tanzania; 2nd International Festival of Artistic Tapestry “Structures of Connections”, Kraków; “Northern Art”, St Petesburg, Russia; “Stitchery 87” Biennial, Pittsburg, USA; “Culture Fusion”, Trondheim, Norway; Galleri Nordnorge, Harstad, Norway; Alta Museum, Norway; Mosjøen Museum, Norway; “Installation Wcc”, Stockholm, Sweden. Major prizes and awards: Ulrika Hendriksen Honorary Prize, Norway, 2008; Vestvågøy Culture Prize, Norway, 2000. Works in collections: Opdøl and Stamsund schools, and Børge church, Norway; Bøstad Health Centre, Norway; Leknes Airport, and the local government office in Bøde.
 
Runa Boger
Born: 1948. Artistic education: Łódź Academy of Fine Arts; National College of Arts & Design, Oslo, Norway. Areas of artistic activity: textile art. Selected exhibitions and competitions: Fiberart International 2007, Pitsburgh, USA; Transform Sørlandets, Art Museum, Kristianiand, Norway; ”Textile’05 Kaunas Art Biennial”, Kaunas, Lithuania; ”Vision in Textiles”, International Art Exhibition, Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir, Turkey. Major prizes and awards: Third Prize, FiberartsGuild of Pitsburgh, USA; Outstanding Achievement Award: Inerenational Textille Art, Beijing, China; Art Awards at the 6th International Textille Art Competition’99, Japan. Works in collections: Museums of Applied Arts, Burgen, Oslo & Trondheim: Norwegian Counsil of Culture, Art Collection, Oslo, Musee di L’Impression Sur Etoffes, Mulhouse, France: HRH Queen Sonja Collection,Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 
Ulrikka Mokdad
Born: 1971. Artistic education: Copenhagen University. Areas of artistic activity: textile art. Lis Lindkuist
Born: 1936. Artistic education: Arts and Crafts School, Copenhagen; scholarships for art school in Łódź and Poznań. Area of artistic activity: collage, soft sculpture. Educational activity: teacher at evening classes. Selected exhibitions and competitions: Bispegården, Kalundborg, Denmark. Major prizes and awards: Craftsperson of the Year, 1992, Country of Vestsjœlland, Denmark. Works in collections: “Sirene” soft sculpture: House of Humour and Satire, Bulgaria.
