COP15 in Copenhagen - hope for a succes
On May 15, 2009 Janus Kahl, CEO in NordicHouse held a lecture "COP15 in Copenhagen - hope for a succes". The lecture was organized as part of the "Science festival" organized by the Universities in Krakow.
Kyoto Protocol expires in 2012 and there is a need for a new Protocol to be agreed on in December 2009 in Copenhagen.
During the UN climate conference in Copenhagen the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) has to answer a number of important questions:
1. How much are the industrialized countries willing to reduce their emissions of
greenhouse gases?
2. How much are major developing countries such as China and India willing to
do to limit the growth of their emissions?
3. How is the help needed by developing countries to engage in reducing their emissions
and adapting to the impacts of climate change going to be financed?
4. How is the money going to be managed?
